Frequently asked questions
Where does Tavula store my data?
On your device only. macOS (Mac App Store version): ~/Library/Containers/app.tavula.mac/Data/Library/Application Support/Tavula/. Windows (Microsoft Store version): %AppData%\Tavula\ (if that folder did not exist on the PC yet, Windows keeps the actual files in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\336YuyaMiyanogawa.Tavula_7jdm0t12v4y0m\LocalCache\Roaming\Tavula\). There is no cloud sync, and your images and memos are not sent to us.
Why does Tavula ask for screen recording permission?
It is required to capture windows, monitors, and screen regions. It is used only when you start a capture. On macOS, allow Tavula under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.
How do I delete Tavula data completely?
Quit the app, then delete the data directory above. On Windows, uninstalling Tavula makes Windows delete the files kept under LocalCache. See the privacy policy, “Deleting your data” for details.
Which systems can run OCR on images?
On macOS, OCR uses Apple Vision and supports Japanese and English. On Windows, choosing “Enable text recognition” copies the Windows text recognition library onto your PC, and OCR uses it. On a PC without that library, OCR is not available.
Which systems does Tavula support?
macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later (Apple Silicon / Intel), and Windows 10 (version 2004) or later (x64).
How do I get Tavula?
The Mac version is on the Mac App Store and the Windows version is on the Microsoft Store. The app is free to start; Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. Pro is bought per store: Pro purchased on the Mac App Store does not unlock Pro on Windows, and the other way round.
How do I get a refund for Pro?
Refunds for Pro purchased on the Mac App Store are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds for Pro purchased on the Microsoft Store follow Microsoft’s rules: Microsoft states that digital goods such as apps and add-ons are not refundable unless the offer or applicable law says you are eligible (Microsoft Support).
